The Personal Bible Study Series is designed to help you meet the needs of your individual evangelistic contacts. Since everyone is different, with varied backgrounds, religious experiences, Bible knowledge, etc., the same approach may not be suitable for everyone.
Lessons 1, 2, 3, 4, & 5 are the basic lessons which every student should go through. Depending on the individual and possible questions or problems that may arise during the course of the study, supplemental lessons are included.
The following is a list of the studies available:
- Lesson 1: Bible Authority and the Two Covenants
- Use supplemental Lesson 1a: Final Authority of the Scriptures if the student is not convinced that the Bible is the final authority, or he/she believes that other religious writings are also acceptable standards, or he/she tends to rely more on subjective feelings.
- Use supplemental Lesson 1b: Contrasting the Old & New Covenants if there is still a tendency to follow Old Testament laws or practices.
- Lesson 2: Overview of the Gospel Message
- Use the following supplemental lessons if your student does not have a strong belief in Jesus or is not convinced that Jesus is the only way.
- Lessons 2a: Jesus Christ According to Mark’s Gospel, Part 1
- Lessons 2b: Jesus Christ According to Mark’s Gospel, Part 2
- Lessons 2c: Jesus Christ According to Mark’s Gospel, Part 3
- Lesson 3: The Church
- Use supplemental Lesson 3a: Identifying the Church: Worship if there is a question about how to identify Christ’s church or if the person is committed to a particular religious group.
- Use supplemental Lesson 3b: Identifying the Church: Musical Praise if the use of instrumental music in worship is going to be a stumbling block.
- Use supplemental Lesson 3c: Identifying the Church: Lord’s Supper if the emblems and/or the weekly observance of the Lord’s Supper are going to be stumbling blocks, or if further identifying characteristics of the church are needed.
- Use supplemental Lesson 3d: Identifying the Church: Organization if further identifying characteristics of the church are needed.
- Use supplemental Lesson 3e: Identifying the Church: Designation if further identifying characteristics of the church are needed.
- Lesson 4: Forgiveness of Sin
- Use supplemental Lesson 4a: Essentiality of Baptism if the student is not convinced that baptism is essential to salvation.
- Use supplemental Lesson 4b: Repentance if the student does not have a good grasp of what repentance is or what it entails, or if you are aware of particular sins in this person’s life of which he/she will need to repent prior to baptism.
- Lesson 5: Counting the Cost
Please feel free to make any suggestions on how to improve these lessons.
These lessons are adapted from ones produced by my friend, Kevin Moore.
Hi there! I have Dr. Moore in class, and he directed us to this webpage where you had posted the PBS’s. Would it be alright if I included this webpage in a link on my blog for my readers? I have a section called “links” at the top of my blog where I want to include helpful websites for the readers. Thanks for your consideration. I appreciate your blog! I’ve been looking over it this morning and have been deeply encouraged.
In the Lord,
Hannah A.
Hey Hannah,
Nice to hear from you. I checked out your blog, great job.
Yes, you can link to my webpage. In fact I really appreciate it a lot.
I noticed you mentioned that you like to learn about blogging and bloggers. I have a recommendation for you. Read the book Platform by Michael Hyatt, his blog and check out his podcast at http://michaelhyatt.com . He is very helpful when it comes for blogging.
Tell Kevin (I mean Dr. Moore) that he is AWESOME!
